Lana Effron x Pip Pop Collaboration

Lana Effron x Pip Pop Collaboration
Chatting with the amazing artist behind our Valentine's Day Collection! Lana Effron of Lana's Shop. To see more of her amazing art and stationary line - visit her here! Thank you Lana!

What’s your favorite rom-com?
Oooh guys, this is a very hard choice! But, I think I need to go with One Fine Day. Does it really get any better than Michelle Pfeiffer?

What’s your go-to dance song?
“Faith" from the Song Soundtrack. Can you guess I have two little kids? But truly, I just can’t not have a kitchen dance party and smile big to those lyrics and beat!

Which piece from the collection is your favorite?
That little precious envelope with the heart seal! It feels like carrying a note from your bestie with you everywhere you go! And when I think of Valentine’s Day it’s all about the card to me. Nothing fancy...just a few words of appreciation and love from the heart!

Where do you find inspiration for your art?
I live in Colorado so the beauty of outdoors is everywhere. I am inspired looking out the window on the way to the mountains; hiking; and when I'm really quiet looking around wherever I may be. Also, by the genius cute things my children say, fun clothing, mix-matched patterns and prints hiding in the most random of objects.

How was art part of your childhood?
I am one of those kids who always wanted to be an artist. Even as a toddler I had an artist’s desk at which I made cards and walked around with a sketchbook in my hand to draw and write poems in. My mom liked to draw too and always encouraged me to keep going for it. In high school, I was in honor’s art and started an art club, and then went to college for Visual Arts and Illustration.

What was your process creating this collection?
First I journaled about Valentine’s Day and came up with objects I loved about the holiday. I sketched my top 10 over and over and over again and let those sketches sit for a few days, and then looked at them fresh and circled my favorites to present to the amazing ladies behind Pip Pop Post. I drew our 5 favorites in more detail, painted them and then scanned the paintings and sent them to Pip Pop Post to work their magic and turn them into real life earrings. Coolest experience ever!

What colors are you gravitating towards?
All shades of green and earth tones are my jam. However, my 3-year-old is big into pink and purple so I’m currently trying to embrace them with her as well!

Who is your biggest artistic influence?
A combo of Shel Silverstein and Norman Rockwell.

What’s one item you can’t create without?
Micron pens. I sketch in micron pens so that I’m not tempted to think too hard or erase. Working in pen keeps my hand going to get into the flow and let the drawings come out.

How do you overcome creative blocks?
After years of “practice” I know that these blocks are actually a key part to my overall creative process. I don’t try to force my way out of feeling stuck anymore, rather, I‘ve learned to embrace the space. At these times instead of painting I journal more, focus on the biz side of things and catch up on emails...until one random day (usually in the middle of the night) I get that fire back in my tummy and go to my art desk and paint!

What’s your favorite piece you’ve ever created?
My children’s wallpaper. For my son it’s a pine forest, his name is Silas which means "of the forest". And for my daughter Eden's wallpaper, it's a garden of flowers, cause, well, you get it. Every single time I walk into one of their rooms it fills me with joy!
What’s your dream project?
This LOVE collection with Pip Pop is certainly WAY up there! I’ll be saving a set of these earrings for when my little girl gets her ears pierced….and I might just have to push that timeline up a bit now.
It was so fun for us to work with Lana and we are so thrilled with how the pieces turned out! You can shop all of her wearable art in our Valentines Collection! The Love Note, The Heart Stack, The Striped Bow, The Rose & The Cherries are available in Stud or Charm! Thank you Lana!
